New Delhi, 05.02.2026: India’s logistics sector employment saw strong hiring activity in 2025, with reports of 10.8% net employment growth in the second half of the year, indicating that many roles are indeed being filled as the industry expands. “The sector will need 47 Lakh additional logistics workers by 2030 due to growth in freight, warehousing, transportation, and supply chain functions. To address this urgent and growing demand, we need major skilling reforms and digital workforce creation”, said Ravikanth Yamarthy, CEO, Logistics Sector Skill Council, addressing industry leaders at LogiMAT India 2026 today. Logistics Sector Skill Council has also partnered with LogiMAT India to Bridge the Talent Gap and Position India as the World’s Talent Capital in the promising logistics sector

The highly anticipated third edition of LogiMAT India 2026, the world’s largest logistics, freight and transportation show, kicked off today with a gala ceremony at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Mumbai. This year, the event is even larger, featuring over 350 global brands from 10 nations. This strategic collaboration is dedicated to closing the skill gap by promoting workforce upskilling through industry-aligned certification programs and hands-on training.

Bernhard Müller, Vice President, Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH & KG Co., said, “LogiMAT India has evolved into a strategic industry platform at the intersection of policy, technology and industry, supporting India’s journey towards global supply chain leadership. This year’s strong international participation from seven countries reflects India’s growing importance as a global hub for logistics innovation and collaboration.”

Addressing the need to create more employment opportunities for women in logistics, Shyam Jagannathan, I.A.S., Director General of Shipping and Additional Secretary to the Government of India, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, emphasized, “Through Sagar Pe Samman, we salute women in India’s logistics sector. India’s growth narrative will accelerate when more women stand shoulder to shoulder with their male counterparts in shaping the sector. India contributes among the top three nations in the global seafaring pool of human resources, this is where India can become a logistics powerhouse by investing in our people and creating inclusive opportunities.”

Key partners for LogiMAT India 2026 include Addverb Technologies, Racks and Rollers, Armstrong Dematic, MHE Bazar, Logistics Sector Skill Council, Jungheinrich India, SOTI, and Jay Storage Solutions. Over 15 international associations, including the Indian Chamber of International Business, Warehousing Association of India, Indo-French Chamber of Commerce, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, and the All India Warehousing Welfare Association, will help foster greater collaboration, bilateral trade, and the exchange of industry best practices.

As India’s logistics industry becomes increasingly agile, connected, and sustainable, the partnership between LogiMAT India and the Logistics Sector Skill Council is leading the charge in workforce transformation. The 2026 event will offer sector-defining white papers, a dynamic conference program focused on cutting-edge topics such as AI in logistics, automation, robotics, and supply chain optimization, and dedicated pavilions that will highlight innovations in logistics, shipping, freight, and green transportation. This alliance is a testament to their shared commitment to cementing India’s position as a global talent powerhouse in logistics.

About Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC):

Logistics Sector Skill Council (LSC) is set up by the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) with the aim to ensure skill-trained Human Resource at the entry level and up-skill the logistics workforce. LSC works with stakeholders, including industry players, government agencies, training providers, and academic institutions, to identify the skill gaps in the logistics sector and design training programs to address those gaps. LSC is an approved awarding body of NCVET. Logistics Sector Skill Council is governed by its Governing Council comprising eminent Captains of Industry.
